Charles Ssenkungu Ssonko, 82, passed away at Nkokonjeru Hospital on Sunday, August 11, 2024.
Charles was born in Katente on January 08, 1942, to the late Stefano and Elizabesi Ssonko. In January, 1965, he married Catherine “Kibirigge” Ssenkungu, celebrating 41 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on October 25, 2006.
Charles was a teacher educator for many years at Sancta Maria Teachers’ College. He enjoyed reading whether a book or a magazine. Just like his parents, he loved his Roman Catholic faith and he was a constant presence in the life of Queen of the Apostles Nkokonjeru Catholic Church. Most importantly cherished his Buganda culture and loved his nuclear and extended family. Charles was an avid soccer player and through coaching he promoted the game among the young people.
His children include; daughters: Agnes, Annette, Julia, Pauline (deceased), Barbara, Betty, Bernadette; sons: Stephen, Mike, Paul, Mark, and Innocent; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the youngest of his siblings who all preceded him in death.
