Samantha Babiiha Kabahuma. A doting daughter, sister, and beloved friend.
Born in 1992 on October 1st, Samantha is remembered as having been God-loving and fearing, energetic, impassioned, exuding love and care to everyone around her.
Professionally, she was a determined and hardworking entrepreneur whose desire was to make the world a better place through fashion and this led to the launch of her fashion line KABA.HUMA in June 2019.
She envisioned an Africa where creativity is the norm, particularly, one where livelihoods of young creative people in Africa are advanced through individual creative expression.
She did this through her effortless and tireless contributions to Kampala Fashion Week from 2014 – 2018, through the work that she enjoyed while working with Ugandan Designer and entrepreneur Gloria Wavamuno, through working with the Watoto Church family office to bring to life the creative and colourful attire of the Watoto Church Cantata cast in 2019, and most recently, through her work as the Textiles Department Head at MoTIV Creations Limited where she diligently served her team and community from April 2021 until her untimely passing.
She attended Shimoni Demonstration School from 1998 – 2001 and later Greenhill Primary School from 2002 to 2004 where she attained her Primary Leaving Certificate. She then completed her O level studies at Maryhill High School, Mbarara in 2008, and then completed her A-level studies at Greenhill Academy in 2010. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Fine Art in 2014 at Makerere University, Kampala, an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Fashion Design in 2018 at Fashion Institute of Technology in Florence, Italy, and a Certificate in the Management of Fashion and Luxury Companies in 2020 at Universita Bocconi, School of Management in Milan, Italy.
She is survived by loving and endearing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Babiiha together with Pastor Hannington and Jacqueline Kobusingye Opondo, and siblings; Selena, Sidney, Mercy and Timothy.
There will be a Funeral Service at Watoto Church- Lubowa on Tuesday, 05th December 2023 starting at 10:00am and thereafter the family will travel to their ancestral home in Kagote- Fortportal.
Burial will take place at their ancestral home in Kagote, Fort portal on Wednesday,06th December 2023 starting at 12:00 noon.
