2 Corinthians 5:8 – “We are confident, I say and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
We gather to celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman, Mrs. Mary Magdalene Odomel Aino, commonly referred to as ‘Mama Moses’, whose passing leaves an unfillable void in our lives. Born on 16 January 1968 to the late Beseri Opara and Abigaire Akinyo, Mum’s life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love.
Mary’s greatest legacy, however, lies in her family. She was a loving wife to Mr. John Cossy Odomel, whom she married on 22 November 1986, and a devoted mother to seven biological children: Moses, Joseph, Andrew, Emmanuel, Regina, Mary, and John. Her family expanded through marriage, embracing six children-in-law: Phiona, Paula, Sharon, Dorothy, Donald, and many cousins whom she took up as her own,
Mary’s grandchildren, twelve in total – Rayne, Deogratius, Raya, Ezrella, Alena, Dara, Avniel, Isaiah, Abigail, Nuri, Ivana, and Celine – brought immense joy to her life. Her love for them knew no bounds.
Beyond her immediate family, Mary touched countless lives. Her siblings – Prof. Andrew Marcelo Otim, John Agwau, Dinah Achoroi, and the late Mrs. Immaculate Orit and Mrs. Schola Okui – cherished her companionship. As the sixth and last born, Mary’s presence was a blessing to her family and beyond.
She spent 36 remarkable years at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, retiring in 2016 as a respected and accomplished professional.
Mary’s passions extended beyond her family and career. She delighted in cooking, hosting, farming, and entrepreneurship, reflecting her boundless energy and enthusiasm.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we remember her unwavering faith, generosity, and compassion. Mary’s life serves as a shining example of selflessness, dedication, and the importance of family. To many, she was a mother, counsellor and friend providing unwavering support, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her influence shaped the lives of those around her in countless ways, and her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us for years to come.
May the memories of Mary’s love, laughter, and legacy sustain you through this difficult time.
May she Rest in Eternal Peace
Your impact on our lives will never fade.
