Maama (Joy Miriam Nalunkuuma Rushedge nee Kibuuka) was born in January 1945 and passed away on 16 October 2024. She lived a quiet life of service, dedication, and love mainly here in Nangabo.
Maama received her early education at Gayaza and Budo, before training as a nurse in the UK. Upon returning to Uganda, she worked as a nurse in Mulago and Makerere hospitals, and also in the Nangabo community.
She was married to Emmanuel Rushedge, with whom they had two children, Sandra and Ian. Maama was a mother, a sister, a teacher, a nurse to a large extended family.
Later in life, maama retired to Nangabo to care for her parents. She lived in the community she dearly loved and served. She gave her life to the Lord in 2010 and always delighted in living for her Lord and Savior.
Maama Joy is survived by her two brothers, a sister, two daughters (Sandra and Dorcas), two sons (Ian and Steven), three grandchildren and a very large extended family. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She passed away peacefully on 16th October 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and love.
