The deceased has belonged to the Ssenfuma Ssempiira branch of the Mamba clan in the Lufuga sub-branch, from the Musikambuzi line. Joe has been a very senior member of the Musikambuzi line, being heir to his uncle Yozefu Ssenfuma and his great grandfather Semeo Ddamba. In that context he has been the “grandfather” of everybody in the Musikambuzi line, a position that carries considerable leadership responsibilities.

Employment History
Mr. Joseph Richard Kanyike built a distinguished career spanning over three decades in Uganda’s financial sector. He began his journey at the Bank of Uganda in 1973 as a Banking Officer and, through dedication, integrity, and exceptional competence, rose steadily through the ranks to retire in 2003 as Director, Capital Markets.
Over his 30 years of service, he played a significant role in strengthening Uganda’s financial systems and contributing to the development of the capital markets framework. His leadership was marked by professionalism, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to institutional excellence.
Beyond his primary career, Mr. Kanyike also served on the boards of several financial institutions in various capacities. In these roles, he provided strategic guidance, wise counsel, and principled oversight, leaving a lasting imprint on
Cause of death
Mr. Kanyike travelled to India on 31 January, 2015 to correct a condition of irregular heartbeat which he had had for over 2 years. During the procedure he developed complications that led to internal bleeding, which necessitated open-heart surgery. There followed complications of internal multiple organ failure that resulted in his passing away.
There will be a Requiem Mass at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Parish, Ntinda on Thursday, 19th February 2026 starting at 10:00am, followed by vigil with prayers at the family home in Lukojjo, Mukono.
There will be another Requiem Mass at their ancestral home in Ngombere- Kojja, Mukono on Friday, 20th February 2026, followed by vigil.
Burial will take place at their ancestral home in Ngombere- Kojja, Mukono on Saturday, 21st February 2026 at 2:00pm.
