James was a revolutionary and passionate leader who spear headed the transformation of FINCA Uganda from a Non – governmental Organization to the first Micro Finance Deposit Taking Institution in Uganda. As the first African Board member at FINCA International, James contributed immensely to the growth of FINCA worldwide.
He was a stalwart leader, trainer and coach who was passionate about marketing, Customer service and branding. During his time at the FINCA Uganda board, the organization grew from strength to strength. He was an inspiration to investors, shareholders, staff and the clients that FINCA serves. James Semakadde was a graduate from the University of Delhi, India, where he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Commerce.
His professional career began as an accountant at the African Evangelistic Enterprise in Kenya. He later moved to Uganda and established Nile Vocational Institute.
He served as a consultant in the areas of marketing and management for major and multi – national companies. He also served on several Boards namely; chairman of the Uganda Red Cross – Jinja Branch, Bright Life International, FINCA Nigeria and Uganda National Farmer’s Association. James will always be remembered as one of FINCA’s leading technocrats and intellectuals. We shall dearly miss him. Though gone, his legacy – his work, his guidance and brilliance will be with us always…
