Eugène Kalisa was born in 1948 in Kinyanzovu-Gisenyi where he went to school and later on to what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In 1976 he married his beloved wife Bazilisa Bamurere and together they settled in Kampala where they started their family. They were blessed with six children namely; Hafsah Mulisa Nakibinge married to Prince Khassim Nakibinge, Salha Nganizi (Stella) married to Ibrah Nganizi, Théogène Bazimya (Jojo) married to Ngyenzi Michelle Mugyenyi (Nunu), Angel Mutesi Nkwaya married to Anthony Nkwaya, Allan Nsiga (Babu) and Eric Kalisa.
Kalisa was a smart, entrepreneurial and innovative man that loved his country. He was passionate about people and loved his immediate and extended family fiercely. His house was always full of people, neighbours couldn’t tell who was a friend and who was family.
Kalisa struggled with his health after suffering a head injury in 1991 and battled with kidney complications from 2018. This did not affect his love for people but instead increased it.
Kalisa is survived by his wife and children, 15 grandchildren, 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews with children.
He will be remembered by how passionate and emotional he was about his family. His love will forever burn in our hearts.
