Born on 10th March 1935
Education Background
Dunstan Simal Opino went to Kidoko subgrade/ nursery
Studied at Rubongi upto primary 4 level.
Joined Kisoko for his higher primary level, and St. Peter’s College for his Secondary Education.
He then joined Kyambogo Techinical College to do accounts and later went to Canada and Italy for further Education.
On return, he joined government as a civil servant with Ministry of Commerce and Industry, where he was transferred from Kampala to be in charge of Western Region ie Mbarara, Ishaka, Ibanda, Kabale and Fort Portal.
He was then transferred back to Kampala where he worked for 15 years.

He was promoted as the Principal Trade Development Officer and asked for a transfer to Mbale where he was put in charge of Eastern and North Eastern region of Uganda.
He asked for this transfer so that he could check on his farm in Kiyeyi where he spent all his Saturdays and would come back to Mbale on Sunday in time for work on Monday.
It is in Mbale that he retired in 1992 and went back to his farm in Kiyeyi to concentrate on developing it.
He died after a short illness of 2 weeks at Mulago, Uganda Heart Institute from Deep Vein Thrombosis, secondary to Heart failure, having had 3 days short of his 87th birthday.
He is survived by a wife, 14 children and 20 grandchildren.
If we learnt anything from him, he loved the Lord. He had integrity, he was a meek man, hardworking, and always loved the poor.
Grandmother always told us that of all her 12 children, the one who loved farming most, was him. No wonder at 86 years, he was still farming.
On his hospital bed, he would still instruct on what to do on his farm and by the time of his passing on ground nuts and Millet had been planted.
He dearly loved his children and he made every effort provide and protect them.
All his children have attained tertiary Education.
At 81 years, he was still heading the District Accounts Committee of Tororo District Local Government, treasurer of the Nabuyoga sub county SACCO and chief fundraiser for Pawanga Church of Uganda. In 2020 COVID 19 perdemic affected his home community he made an initiative to provide sanitary equipment to the community of Kiyeyi.
We will dearly miss his love, counsel, commitment but above all his infectious smile.
We celebrate a life well lived.
On his hospital bed , he offered a prayer saying “Jesus Open the gate for me.”
In Jesus Christ’s hands, we place his spirit and soul.

May his soul truly rest in eternal peace. Amen.

There will be a Funeral Service at St Luke C.O.U Ntinda on Thursday 10th March 2022 starting at 10:00am.
