    Dr Harriet Nabudere,

I am still coming to terms with your untimely demise.

Your have been a great champion for increased financing domestic for health research and development in Uganda, regionally and continentally.

    You will be greatly missed.

May the good Lord grant you eternal rest.

I have no words for the loss I am feeling personally and professionally! Harriet was a comrade in arms in efforts to step up locally-led health, research and development in Uganda and the EA region through increased financing, and by instituting policies to improve the research environment. No major national or regional meeting on these issues was complete without you Harriet. I will truly miss you!

I just learned of Harriet’s passing. I am so sad to learn this. I worked with Harriet from late 2017 to late 2019 to publish the East Africa Health Research Journal. She was so wonderful to know and work with. She and I learned so much together and from each other. She brought a tremendous level of expertise to the journal. She was fully committed to it despite it taking a tremendous amount of time at the end of her regular work day. Most of our interaction was via phone but I was lucky to meet her in person in Dar es Salaam. She was funny and friendly and welcomed me so warmly. She was full of life and color. I am sad for her family, for her colleagues, and for all of us who have lost her.
