Ambassador Lewis D. Balinda, a distinguished diplomat, dedicated public servant, and beloved community leader, was born to Joseph Bazashya and Maria Nambi. His journey began in the humble surroundings of Kasule Primary School in Kyaaka, now Kyegegwa District. His pursuit of education led him through Wekomire, Aga Khan, and Kitovu schools, culminating in his higher education at the prestigious Makerere University.

His professional life was marked by a profound commitment to public service. Before retirement, he held the esteemed position of Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Uganda in Brussels in 2001. Throughout his illustrious career, Ambassador Balinda served in various capacities within numerous government ministries, departments, and agencies. His expertise and dedication saw him represent Uganda as Ambassador in several countries, including Australia, Rwanda, Belgium, and China.

Upon retiring, Ambassador Balinda returned to his roots in Nsooro, Fort Portal Tourism City, where he transitioned from diplomacy to agriculture. He became a passionate coffee farmer, contributing to the local economy and the agricultural community. His retirement years were also marked by a deep commitment to his faith and community. He took on significant roles within the Church and served as the chairman of the Kasusu Tukorrehamu Group, a savings group that united seniors and young people in economic empowerment initiatives.

Ambassador Balinda was not only a career diplomat but also a man of faith, a dedicated coffee farmer, and a champion of social and economic empowerment. His legacy is one of service, dedication, and community upliftment. He remained active and engaged in his community until his hospitalization in Kampala.

Ambassador Lewis D. Balinda’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country, his community, and his faith. His contributions have left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire future generations.

There will be a Funeral Service at Kasusu Catholic Church on Saturday, 25th May 2024 starting at 12:00pm thereafter burial will take place in Kiboha Fort portal at 3:00pm.
