LIFE HISTORY
Poline Abalo also known as Lapwony due to her long teaching career was born on the 10th September 1964 from Gulu Hospital to Mrs Rose Oyella Otolkara of Pajira Palwo, Anaka, Nwoya District and Ronald Ross Otolkara Arisfano of Koch Ongako, Anaka, Nwoya Distict. She was married to the late Acellam Ben who passed away almost 30 years ago.
She began her primary education in 1969 in Bobi Primary School and due to late Mzee Otolkara’s work transfers, she was moved to Koch Koo P/S in 1970-1971, Gulu Public School in 1972, Ireda P/S in Lira in 1973 and finally to Kitgum Public School in 1974 where she completed her Primary Seven. In the 1975, she joined Kitgum High school for her S1 and S2, moving on to Sacred Heart Secondary School for S3 and S4, and finally Trinity College Nabbingo she A’Level education.
In 1986, she joined Kyambogo Teachers Training College after which she began her teaching career briefly at Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School (1988-1989), then at City High School (1989-2004), Nsangi Senior Secondary School (2004-2014), and finally Luzira Senior Secondary School (2014 – Up to date).
Lapwony Poline being a business woman, operated a shop as one of the pioneer operators of business in Nakawa Market and together with her late husband were the first to introduce a g nuts/simsim automated grinding machine and for the most part of her business life she was best known for her supply of high quality grain majorly rice, g nuts and sim sim.
After a long battle with illness, she was taken to Nsambya Hospital and later transferred to Kiruddu Referral Hospital for further specialized treatment where she spent a few hours on oxygen and at 5:50pm on Tuesday 10th January 2023 succumbed to her illness. She is survived by two daughters, Adok Juliet Monalisa and Aloyo Anne Patience.
Her body will leave Kiruddu Referral Hospital for the funeral service at Church of Ressurection in Bugolobi after which it will lay at her father’s residence in Bugolobi Block 10 for a night vigil. On Friday morning the body will be taken to Koch Ongako, Nwoya District where she will be laid to rest on Saturday 14th January 2023.

Burial will take place at their ancestral home in Kock Ongako, Gulu District on Saturday, 14th January 2023 starting at 10:00am.
