Early Education:
- Engineer Jonas Banturaki was born in Katungu, Bushenyi to Mr. James and Mrs. Rhoda Muhoozi. He was the 3rd born in a family of 8 children.
- He studied at Kyeizooba Primary School & thereafter went to Nyakasura School for six years.
- He then went to Uganda Technical College Kyambogo where he did a Diploma in Telecom Engineering.
- Soon after, he was awarded a scholarship to Russia where he studied for 7 years starting with a Degree of 5 years and Masters of 2 years both in Telecom Engineering.
Career Path:
- Engineer Jonas Banturaki started his career at Radio Uganda as an Electrical Technician, promoted to Senior Electrical Technician.
- Thereafter he joined Post and Telecom Operations as an Electrical Engineer.
- He later joined Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) as a pioneer staff as a Communications Engineer where he went onto high ranks retiring as a Director of Corporate Affairs in 2016.
Family Life.
- Engineer Jonas Banturaki married Mrs. Eva Asaba Byakutaga Banturaki Akiiki on 22nd August, 1986.
- He was blessed with three children; Grace Kyohairwe Banturaki, Jonan Muhwezi Banturaki and James Mwebaze Banturaki. Aside from his children, many more children have gone through his stewardship and guidance.
- He has also been blessed with two daughters in love; Mrs. Doreen Muhwezi Banturaki and Mrs. Martha Mwebaze Banturaki.
- Engineer Jonas Banturaki has also been blessed with two grandchildren; Jared Muhoozi Banturaki and Sona Asaba Banturaki.
Hobbies.
- Engineer Jonas Muhoozi Banturaki was a very passionate and religious fan of Arsenal as he always very evidently celebrated all their wins.
- He was also a star player in Bushenyi as he played for Bushenyi FC in his youth.
- He also enjoyed wrestling shows with his sons & grandchildren.
Conclusion.
Engineer Jonas Muhoozi Banturaki left to be with the Lord on Friday 14th June, 2024 at Mulago Hospital.
His kindness and generosity will be very dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Say not in grief “he is no more” but live in thankfulness that he was.
Burial will take place at Katungu Bushenyi District on Monday 17th June 2024 starting with service at 12 noon.
