Born on November 02, 1951, in Mityana District, Edward Mperese Nsubuga was the second child of Mr. Efusa Mukalazi and Tereza Nanyonga. He later moved to Kabembe in Luweero District and eventually settled in Kiwoko, Luweero, where he grew up with his grandfather, Yokana Kizito.

Mperese completed his Primary Seven at Kiwoko Primary School and attended Kitante Hill School for his Secondary Education. Due to financial struggles, he dropped out in Senior Three in 1969 and joined the Uganda Textile Training Institute, where he was trained as a Garment Constructor.

He advanced to the rank of Departmental Officer and worked in several industries, including Uganda Textiles, Nytil, and Lira Spinning Mills. He retired at Uganda Lion Textiles in Kawempe and entered the business world in 1987.

From humble beginnings as a trader with a small shop at Bakijulula, Luweero District, Mperese rose and founded several companies and ventures, including Samalien Properties, Fresh Oven Bakery, Samalien Petroleum, Marco Mazie Flour, EM & Sons Importers, Jordan Water, Libest Juice, Samalien Dry Cleaners, Samalien Garments, Victoria Terrace View theatre and Mbugga Mixed Farm. He was well-known as the “King of Trading” in the 1980s and 1990s but has not been an active businessman for the last 15 years due to illness.

His passion for sports shone through his dedicated service as Treasurer of Express FC and Chairman of the Mamba Clan Football Team, at the peak of their relative successes.

He was a loving husband to Rhoda Kobusingye Nsubuga (Wife), father, brother, and grandfather to many, cherishing his siblings, children, and grandchildren until his last breath.

A life well-lived plants seeds of legacy that bloom for generations. Mr. Mperese’s light will forever guide his family as “The one who took the risk to break a generation of poverty”

There will be a Funeral Service at Uganda Martyr’s’ Anglican Church- Nakiyanja on Friday, 21st March 2025 at 10:00am, thereafter vigil will be held at the deceased’s home in Namugongo- Janda opposite Janda Medical Center.

Burial will take place at their ancestral home in Bakijulula, Bugungu-Luwero District on Sunday, 23rd March 2025 at 04:00pm, starting with a Funeral Service at 10:00am at St. Mark Church of Uganda- Bakijulula, Bugungu.
