Family background
Fr. Boniface (Bonaventure) Ojaka OSB was born on 11th October 1957. He was the son of Isidoro Othieno and the late Scholastica Othieno both of Naguria B, Nyangole sublocation, Tororo district, Uganda. Fr. Boniface was brother to Awino Jane Frances, Abbo Anna, Akongo Veronica, Ochieng Stephen, Among Jane Frances, Julius Emeje, Sunday Johnson and Nyapendi Rose.

He belongs to the Kariwoki Amiyo Clan an Itesot.
He was baptized at Sacred Heart Church.
He got his first Holy Communion at Sacred Heart Church
He got confirmation at Sacred Heart Church.

Monastic life
Fr. Boniface started aspiring to join the Benedictine monastery and was admitted into postulancy in May 1979 at the novitiate which was located in Nanyuki monastery. He was admitted with five others into their canonical year of novitiate in June 1980. He took his first monastic vows on 13th of June 1981 alongside Fr. Innocent Omita, Placidus Khamalwa and the late Raymond Tamale- Ssentongo as pioneer monks of our monastery. After his priestly studies at Consolata Institute of Philosophy and St. Thomas Aquinas in Langata, Fr. Boniface was ordained together with Fr. Innocent and Fr. Raymond as the first local priests of our Benedictine community in Kenya on 20th November 1988. He was assigned to work as the Assistant Parish priest of St. Benedict Ruaraka parish under Fr. Klaus Braunreuter OSB and later took over as the Parish priest. In St. Benedict parish, he was very fond of the youth and promoted traditional dances in the parish and being a good footballer, he also promoted football among the youth. After serving his term at St. Benedict Ruaraka parish, he went for his sabbatical leave at Miami in USA and returned to Tigoni monastery to serve as the Junior master. He was later posted to Amani conference centre as the guest master.
Fr. Boniface started working in the Archdiocese of Tororo in 2000, where he was posted to Bugitimwa parish as the Parish priest. He was the first missionary priest to be work in that parish and was in charge of 33 outstations. He served until 2008 being the longest serving Parish priest in Bugitimwa. During his tenure, he helped to establish Bugitimwa health clinic, renovated the Parish main church and built the sacristy besides renovation of several outstations. He was involved in charity works and helped poor students to join St. Benedict Primary school where some of the girls continued up to university level of education. He was very dedicated and enthusiastic during his tenure in Bugitimwa parish.
As the Subprior in Tororo

He worked in Bugitmwa for 8 years, then in monastery Tororo as sub prior and chaplain to st Augustine Tororo Girls from 2011 to 2013, then to Achilet 2013 to 2015.

Vigil will be held at the Monastery (Tororo) on 13th 10, 2021.

There will be a funeral service at the (Tororo) on Thursday starting at 10:00am.

Burial will take place at the Monastery (Tororo) on Thursday 14th 10, 2021 at mid-day.
